Welcome

This website has been provided by Walker Corporation as a source of information for the community about the development proposal for South Appin.

On 16 May 2016, Wollondilly Shire Council voted to allow the revised Macquariedale Road, Appin planning proposal to be re-exhibited for public exhibition. The re-exhibition will occur when the NSW Department of Planning and Environment approve the amended proposal.

The exhibition will include the Bio-Certification Application – associated with addressing the impact from the proposed removal of vegetation, in addition to an amended Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) – the legal document that binds Walker to provide the contributions and works associated with the planning proposal.

Revised proposal: Know the facts

Walker Corporation has made changes to its Macquariedale Road, Appin rezoning application. The revised proposal would deliver improved infrastructure, amenity and diversity of housing.

  • The restoration of the Appin Inn is underway and will cost in the vicinity of $1,200,000 – visit the Appin Inn restoration page for full details
  • Fewer land lots with 70% a minimum of 700m2 or larger to ensure that the Shire’s rural character is maintained
  • $2,500,000 Community Chest grants program to support local community groups
  • $2,500,000 on works to upgrade intersections to improve safety, capacity and convenience along Appin Road
  • $500,000 Green Fund supporting community led environmental projects in Appin
  • $700,000 toward new cycle paths connecting the Appin community
  • $1,200,000 to remove powerlines and upgrade landscaping of the Appin main street
  • $1,200,000 to upgrade Gordon Lewis Oval and surrounding facilities

The value to the Appin community for works and contributions from Walker Corporation will reach approximately $10,000,000 over a short period of 3-4 years. In the event the amended Walker Corporation planning proposal is to proceed, the Appin Township and Greater Macarthur community will benefit from dramatically improved transport, community, environmental and employment outcomes, and diversity of housing.
